Mick keen to seize his chance

CARETAKER boss Mick Harford has confirmed that he hopes to succeed Paul Hart as QPR manager on a permanent basis.

Harford, who stepped into the breach following Hart's resignation last week, said: "They've asked me to be in charge of first-team affairs, which means being the manager, and I enjoy that.

"It's an opportunity for me as well and hopefully I can grab it. If the players keep playing like that [at Blackpool] it gives us a bigger chance.

"I enjoyed working with Paul. It's been difficult for everyone connected with the club - the staff, the players and especially the supporters. They need a bit of stability."

Harford, 50, has previously managed Rotherham and Luton and been number two at Luton, Nottingham Forest, Swindon and Colchester.

QPR bowed out of the FA Youth Cup after a 3-0 defeat in Tuesday's fourth round tie at West Ham.

Sam Bewick squandered a chance to put the Rs ahead before Christian Montano opened the scoring.

Robert Hall's free-kick just before half-time made it 2-0 and Montano hit his second with 15 minutes to go.

Rangers fought hard, but finished the game with 10 men after Danny Bailey was sent off in injury time.
