Savage assualt secures the trophies

WILLESDEN CC'S Kirsten Savage completed a hat-trick of successes in one day, capping her Hillingdon under-14 race victory with two trophies at the club's annual dinner.
Savage collected the schoolgirls' road race champion and schools' track champion awards from Paul Doel - a second claim member of the club and manager of The Bike Shop, North Harrow - and his wife Susan (all pictured left).
Another under-14 member, Dan Maslin - who heads the British Cycling rankings for his age group - was named as Willesden's schoolboys' road race champion.
Jayne Paine - who won both national and European medals on the track last year - won the ladies' road race and track champion trophies, while Gill Reynolds was ladies' time trial champion.
Reynolds also took the Erica Spring Cup for the fastest 10-mile ride, while Peter Turnbull won the Audax Champion award at the ceremony, held at Uxbridge Golf Club.
Club time trial champion Meurig James, now based in Philadelphia, was unable to pick up his four trophies - the Dunning Cup (25 miles), Alf Peyton Cup (50 miles), Palmer Trophy (100 miles) and Stayers Trophy (12 hours).
Other prizes went to: Chris James (veterans' time trial champion), Tony Woodford (veterans' track champion), Richard Jerome (club road race champion), Ray George (club track champion), Hilary Pandya (ladies' Audax champion) and Mel Kirkland (Audax Merit Trophy).
Club secretary Mike Ellison won the clubman of the year award, while the inaugural Sportive award went to club hill climb champion Stuart Birnie.
